This Memorial Day add German Hot Dogs to your Grilling List!
Taste test after taste test has proved that German hot dogs with all natural sheep casings are the most delicious variety available. Compared to the large national brands, they are longer, have a slight curve, more natural color, and that sought after signature “snap”. Most of the hot dogs you buy in the store are made in plastic casings and then the plastic is peeled off. Because ours are stuffed into the natural casings, the casing is still on when you buy them and that locks in all of the juices and flavor while you cook it releasing them in that first crisp bite.
At Alpine Market, we hand-make 10,000 lbs of sausage and sell 1,000 lbs alone of our German hot dogs or “wieners” every week! (see a complete list of our sausages) Our sausage maker Alex packs these puppies (pun intended) with a combination of spices that you can easily see and taste. Like all hot dogs they are pre-cooked and you can eat them right out of the refrigerator or heat them by boiling and/or grilling. Then stuff your dog in a bun and finish it off with your favorite toppings. I suggest that you try some of these imports to make your German hot dog even more European:

Inglehoffer wasabi horseradish:
This hot and creamy sauce from the well-known Inglehoffer brand is made with grated horseradish and wasabi roots.

Kühne Ungariche gurken:
Slice up these spicy, Hungarian style pickles for a tangy, tantalizing topping.

Hela spicy and curry ketchups:
If you haven’t tried curry ketchup on your brats and fries yet, then you’re in for a treat. Mix and match all of these varieties to create your own unique flavor.

Hengstenberg Bavarian style sauerkraut:
It’s not just for bratwurst, try sauerkraut on your hamburgers and hot dogs. I like to heat my up in the skillet and add a little bacon for extra yummy-ness.

Thomy rot weiß:
This one I hadn’t heard of before today, but our Market manager Silvia told me it flies off her shelves, so I tried it with my hot dog and I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that it came out in the red and white stripes. How do they do that when its all in the same tube?! And it’s not just ketchup and mayonnaise either, it has added all natural flavors that compliment the spices in the hot dog perfectly. I can’t wait to break this one out at my own barbeque!
